Like every sport out there, there are always ways to mess up or get hurt. Netball is a huge risk when it comes to both. When playing netball and starting the game, which begins with a whistle, you must be careful how you and your partner are placed because many times when I play my partner will step on my toes nudge me continuously. I know that might not sound too painful but it is very aggravating! You either must do it back or move but they will most likely just follow you and keep doing it.
When you play in final games or in advanced competitions that is usually when most people tend to get extremely angry and motivated to win! So you must yourself be the same back otherwise you will get over done by the team you are against. But when you’re playing the referee can call up obstruction which is when your partner or someone else on the team touches you or pushes you in some kind of way or even harsh body contact. IF someone is doing that to you, you can try and make it obvious to the reff and get them called out. But you must be careful because the reff won’t always pull it up and sometimes they can be very bi est. to the other team.
During my time of playing I have seen many girls get to into it, and get quite rough and push and push until you either give up or fight back and it can start fights I have seen it. That’s why you shouldn’t let something like that distract you!
Now some terrible things can happen with playing netball like breaking a leg, arm or anything else. The most type of accident that occurs the most it spraining your ankle. It is a very likely event to happen as you are running and jumping continuously.
You can use things called ankle guards which strap around your ankles to prevent them from rolling and getting weak which happens a lot! You can also use tape anywhere to keep that muscle or bone tight together while playing, which can be very helpful.
Here is a video that shows some fights or highlights that happens at netball games-watch?v=ci1pIrOxzCk
When you’re playing netball make sure to drink plenty of water to keep your hydration level up. If you loose your hydration it will create you to lose a steady breathing pattern and may cause a really dry throat.
When you play netball remember to never dribble the ball it can happen very often and will be called up by the reff and the ball will go to the other team. Also when your partner has the ball and they want to pass it you can put your hands up to defend the ball but you must me 3 feet or more away from them otherwise you will get called for obstruction. And once again the ball will be hand over to the other team.

Playing the game is not so easy. Yes you see people playing the game and it just looks like you have to be fast and fit, well that’s not true. You do have to be fit and fast of course but that’s just the same for multiples of sports. The main key thing for netball is to know good strategies and tactics. The best way obviously is to join a team and be quality coached, meaning that you are given those strategies to learn and use rather than you just being taught to play positions normally. That is why commonly the teams that are better are the ones that aren’t faster and more focused on being tough and winning. Its the ones you see playing a well thought out game and playing with tricks that come new to people every game, finding ways to come around people and show and play something unexpected.
The best way to learn your strategies like i said before is most probably best to have a coach or be on a team so you can learn from them people and even develop your own skills and ideas from them.
so when you start to learn some tactics or strategies the game just comes a mind game really putting your skills and knowledge together creating a well played game. But don’t get the impression that you just have to know strategies to play well because you will learn them over time anyway and it will come naturally. When your playing you don’t need to think about everything all the time like all games you will get used to them and you will just play normally already having planned out how your going to play and the strategies you want to use.
There aren’t strategies and tactics written down on paper as every different teams/ coaches usually have different ones all helping them to learn and win well. But if you do start to play I’m guessing very well that after being told your own strategies from either your coach or playmates you will develop enough skills to be able to create your own and also to be able to play just making them up as you go. But that’s not the same for everyone. For some they may never be able to get the hang of it to quickly but for others it may become naturally.

Netball is a world wide recognised sport. The team for Australia is call the diamonds. Australia have traditionally been regarded as the most successful netball team in international netball: they have won nine of the twelve Netball World Championships, in addition to being the current world champions and ranked at number 1 on the IFNA World Rankings. As they play for Australia there uniform is coloured yellow (gold) and green which are the Australian represented colours. The team was first founded in 1985. The captain of the team is Mcmahon and the coach is Norma Plummer. Through out the team there is also a well renown most capped player who is formally known as Liz Ellis. Liz Ellis is a magnificent netball player and is the Gs for the team and I told you last time that is the one out of two positions that can shoot the ball.
They have come under increasing challenge from New Zealand’s national team, the Silver Ferns, in recent years. New Zealand won the 2006 Commonwealth Games final and the grand final of the 2003 Netball World Championships, which saw Australia lose the top world ranking. However, Australia have since regained their world number 1 ranking after winning the 2007 Netball World Championships.
Historically, the Australian team has had a edge over perennial rivals New Zealand, as posting 54 victories, as opposed to New Zealand’s 36 out of the 90 tests they have played , including two matches ending in a draw.
On the 8th of September 2008, Netball Australia launched a new gem on the sporting arena by officially naming the national team the Australian Netball Diamonds. Continuing the trend set by the Australian women’s basketball team, the Opals. Netball Australia made the announcement and described it as a milestone event in the sport’s 80-year history in Australia.

so latley ive been telling you, that netball isnt a really popular or well known sport, well i change my mind and way of thinking because it is. I live in a country were its not really well known, and especially at my school because its american and in America there really is no sport known to them like netball for them its just basketball. So netball is actually a really popular sport just not in some parts of the world but thats the same with many sports. So if you would like to start playing or start to take a interest in netball ill tell you how to play. Netball is not an easy sport even though it only has 7 players each side and the playing court is quite small doesnt mean its easy. i have been playing since i was 6 so i know it insideout. Okay so to start, on a team there are 7 players and the positions are GA GD GK GS WA WD C, if you have a G infront that means you are allowed to play in the goals as well as other parts of the field the C only plays on every part of the field but the goal, and the bibs with the W infront mean they only play on certain parts of the court also not including the goals. The aim of the game is one team to shoot more goals than the other team through out one hour. By doing that you start of with a whistle and the C player will be in a small semi- cirlce in the middle of the court they will throw the ball either to the WA WD GA or GD but they have to catch the ball in the centre third. On the court there are three thirds called the centre third or goal third.
those three rectangles you can see are the thirds and the half circles at each end are the goal circles where you shoot. The GS and GA are the only people in the game who can shoot. When you get the ball you can only take one step then you have to pass with in 3 seconds. If you know basketball well tehn its juts like basketball but you cant take anysteps and you cant dribble and of course the court is different.
